Manifesto

Empowering Gampaha to thrive through sustainable growth, preserving heritage, and fostering modern economic opportunity.

Transforming Gamapaha into a Tourist Hub

Gampaha District has the highest population density in Sri Lanka, and it stands out due to its unique environmental and historical economic values. Despite being home to Katunayake International Airport, one of the main entry points for tourists into Sri Lanka, there has been a lack of initiatives to harness this potential for local economic gain. Our goal is to transform Gampaha into a thriving tourist hub, create sustainable economic benefits for the residents, and advocate for policies in Parliament to support this development.

Gampaha District has been the birthplace of many prominent intellectuals and cultural figures, such as the venerable Yakadadhuwe Pannarama Thero, Kumaratunga Munidasa, and Mahagama Sekara. With a strong foundation in education, our focus will be to revitalize the education system by introducing modern technological learning methods, fostering innovation, and producing skilled, multi-talented citizens.

A City Full of Learned Minds

A City with Sustainable Practices

The district boasts fertile lands that are ideal for agriculture. Despite the vast potential for cultivation, much of the land remains unused. Our mission is to introduce sustainable agricultural practices, leverage commercial farming, and elevate production to export standards, ensuring that these economic benefits reach the residents. We are committed to implementing actionable plans that would make Gampaha District a leader in Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector.

Gampaha is notable for its natural resources, including rivers and extensive canal systems, which, if managed effectively, could support agricultural and related activities. Currently, mismanagement has led to frequent flooding and other environmental challenges. Our commitment includes controlling unauthorized constructions, preventing sand and soil mining, and responsibly managing these water resources to serve the community’s needs.

Maximized Use of Natural Resources

A Leading City of Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector.

We aim to protect sites of environmental significance, such as the Muthurajawela Wetlands, and safeguard the district's rich biodiversity. This also includes preserving archaeologically valuable sites that date back to prehistoric times. These natural and cultural treasures will be protected for future generations.

Cherishing Nature for the Future Generations

Modernized Fishing Industry

Negombo, within the district, has a major fishing industry. To modernize and support this sector, we propose the introduction of advanced technology and practices, with our voice in Parliament advocating for such development to sustain and grow the livelihoods tied to this industry.

Many residents depend on the rail transport system, which lacks adequate facilities. We prioritize establishing a structured, accessible transportation network with well-planned policies to meet the needs of the community efficiently.

Well-Facilitated Transportation System

Residential School for Children of Sri Lankan Expatriates

Sri Lankan expatriates are crucial in generating foreign exchange for the country. We recognize the struggles faced by these workers and their families, including instances of exploitation. We are committed to supporting their welfare, including establishing residential schools in the Gampaha District to ensure the uninterrupted education of their children while they work abroad.

In today’s globalized world, computer literacy and English proficiency are essential skills. We aim to establish government-supported IT and English language learning centers, offering free education to children to equip them with these critical skills and prepare them for future challenges.

Building Future-Ready Learners

Building a Prosperous City

In summary, our mission for Gampaha District encompasses transforming it into an economically prosperous, environmentally sustainable, and educationally advanced region, using policy-driven solutions and modern development strategies. We are dedicated to working tirelessly to realize this vision.
